Mason Miller Tosses Two Frames
8 months agoOakland Athletics pitcher Mason Miller came on in a tie game in the top of the ninth inning and tossed two innings. Miller allowed one hit, one walk and struck out four in his second outing of the season. There had been speculation this offseason that Miller could wind up the teams closer as he transforms from a starter and pitching in the ninth inning of a tie game is a good indication that he will be trusted in important spots. The Athletics have still not named a closer, but managers shouldn't expect many saves from whoever will be getting the ball in the ninth inning for one of the worst franchises in the league. For now, Miller can be a speculative add in the deepest of leagues, but there might be more valuable options in leagues that count holds in addition to saves.
