The New England Patriots recently traded Mac Jones to the Jacksonville Jaguars. The first-round pick from the 2021 NFL Draft will now serve as Trevor Lawrence's backup and will hope to get his career back on track.
The Jaguars sent a sixth-round pick to the Patriots in exchange for Jones as they improved their quarterback room. Last season, following Trevor Lawrence's injury, backup quarterback C.J. Beathard struggled, and the franchise knew they needed an improvement over him.
What does a move to the Jaguars mean for Jones? Let's take a look at the latest fantasy outlook of the former Patriots quarterback.

Mac Jones Fantasy Outlook
If Trevor Lawrence stays healthy, Mac Jones is unlikely to see any significant minutes next season. However, by being in a better situation than the Patriots, he can improve his play, as head coach Doug Pederson is well-known for improving backup quarterback performances.
Jones will be a free agent next season, as the Jaguars are unlikely to pick up his fifth-year option. If he regains his form, the Alabama product can work his way back into a starting quarterback role for a team.
The 25-year-old quarterback will likely play in the preseason games. In those games, Jones has the opportunity to demonstrate to the rest of the league that he is still capable of being a starting quarterback in the NFL.
In his last season with the Patriots, Jones played 11 games and threw for 2,120 yards, 10 touchdowns with 12 interceptions. He had a passer rating of 77.0 and completed 64.9% of his throws.
Trade: Patriots are finalizing a deal to send QB Mac Jones to the Jacksonville Jaguars, sources tell ESPN. The trade cannot be processed until the new league year begins Wednesday and he passes a physical. The two sides were discussing a 6th-round pick, per sources.

Trevor Lawrence Fantasy Outlook for 2024
As for Trevor Lawrence, the move to add Mac Jones will propel him to new heights. Jones, who is from the same draft class as Lawrence, will push the Clemson product to become a better player. The former first-overall pick is expected to sign a contract extension this offseason as the Jaguars prepare for a bounce-back season.
Lawrence's shoulder injury last season affected his performance, and the Jaguars lost five of their last six games to finish the season.
The Jaguars recently signed Gabe Davis to a three-year deal, and he could become a deep threat for the team. Whether Calvin Ridley returns to the franchise remains to be seen, but as presently constructed, the Trevor Lawrence-led Jaguars still have a great shot at winning the AFC South.
Lawrence threw for 4,016 yards, 21 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions in 16 games last season, with a passer rating of 88.5. He will hope to have a better season, as expectations for him are quite high.
