Davis Schneider 2024 Player Outlook: Playing Time The Foremost Concern
10 months agoToronto Blue Jays infielder Davis Schneider broke onto the scene with authority and well surpassed even the loftiest of expectations in his rookie season in 2023. In his age-24 season, Schneider hit .276 with eight homers and a 1.007 OPS across 35 games and 141 trips to the plate. He was the club's best offensive player during his brief tenure in the big leagues. However, playing time questions remain in 2024. Schneider was not mentioned by name when skipper John Schneider was asked about his team's situation at second and third base, an ominous sign to be sure. While he should see decent playing time at second base, ATC is projecting just 404 trips to the plate for the 25-year-old. They also have him hitting 17 home runs with five stolen bases in that time, which is serviceable at the keystone, and his 511.40 ADP isn't ridiculous. He would still be a risky investment on draft day.
