Josh Jung Out A Couple Weeks With Calf Strain
10 months agoTexas Rangers third baseman Josh Jung (calf) will miss a couple weeks after being diagnosed with a left-calf strain. Jung had discomfort in his calf while working out at spring training on Friday and will now miss the next several weeks, but it remains to be seen if this injury will put the 26-year-old in danger of missing Opening Day. He had a great first full major-league season in 2023, making the All-Star team while hitting .266/.315/.467 with 23 home runs, 70 RBI and 75 runs scored in 122 games and 515 plate appearances. However, Jung also missed six weeks with a thumb injury and has developed a reputation already for being injury-prone. After his injury, he hit just .229 with four home runs the rest of the way after returning in August. Jung's power is attractive, but he struck out a third of the time in 2023 and barely took any walks.
