Tyler Black 2024 Player Outlook: Lack Of A Position Diminishing Value
10 months agoMilwaukee Brewers infield prospect Tyler Black enjoyed one of the best seasons of any minor leaguer in the 2023 campaign. In his age-22 season, Black hit .284 with 18 home runs and 55 stolen bases between the Double-A and Triple-A levels in 2023, posting an overall .930 OPS in the process. He played the corner infield spots in doing so, which does not suit his profile. While he has pop, his profile figures to be built around speed and a patient approach at the plate (he owns a minor-league career 16.6% BB%), as he should be able to produce above-average on-base percentages. At 5-foot-10, Black might not be able to keep up with the home run power his peers at the corner infield spots offer but he should earn his fair share of extra-base hits thanks to his legs. He won't log enough big-league time to warrant a pick around his 461 ADP as a third baseman, especially in redraft leagues, but if he can ever find a way to get second-base eligible, fantasy managers should be willing to pounce.
