Rays Sign Erik Neander, Kevin Cash To Extensions
10 months agoThe Tampa Bay Rays agreed to long-term contract extensions on Thursday with both president of baseball operations Erik Neander and manager Kevin Cash. Financial terms of the deals were not disclosed, but both deals will carry into and beyond the team's planned 2028 move into a new St. Petersburg stadium. Cash was heading into the final year of his previous contract, although the team did hold an option on him for the 2025 season. Neander had received a multi-year extension in September of 2021 that reportedly ran through the 2026 season. Cash replaced Joe Maddon in 2015 and had no previous managerial experience, but he's gone 739-617 over nine seasons, leading the Rays to five straight playoff berths, including a trip to the World Series in 2020. He won back-to-back American League Manager of the Year awards in 2020-21.
