The Green Bay Packers were an unknown entering the 2023 NFL season. Jordan Love took over as the starter when the team traded Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets during the offseason, leading many to bet on them to miss the playoffs.
However, the Packers finished second in the NFC North division with a 9-8 record and made the postseason. They had a rough patch in the first half this year but ended the regular season on fire. Green Bay won six of their final eight games to earn a playoff spot.
Despite being the seventh seed in the playoffs, the Packers pulled off the upset win over the Dallas Cowboys on Wild Card Weekend. Then, they almost defeated the San Francisco 49ers in the second round.

What Draft Picks Do The Green Bay Packers Own?
The Packers have eight picks in the 2024 NFL Draft. They project to receive a few compensatory picks later this offseason, which should push the team’s total into the low double-digit ballpark. Green Bay has five picks in the first 95 selections.
They have an early second-round pick from the Jets as part of the Rodgers trade. The Packers also have the Buffalo Bills’ third-round pick as part of the trade deadline deal of cornerback Rasul Douglas. Green Bay has three picks on Day 3, with their fifth-round selection belonging to the Bills.
Who Could The Green Bay Packers Draft In The First Round?
While the Packers haven’t used a first-round pick on a wide receiver or tight end in over a decade, the team has an elite young core of weapons. Last year, they drafted Jayden Reed, Luke Musgrave, and Tucker Kraft on Day 2. Green Bay selected Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs in the second and fourth rounds the year before.
The Packers’ offense looks like an elite unit for years to come. However, their defense needs help, especially in the secondary. Jaire Alexander might have played his final game with the team. Between the injury history and other concerns, we could see a divorce happen between the team and the cornerback this offseason.
Green Bay could draft a cornerback with the 25th overall pick in the first round. Two potential draft targets are Iowa’s Cooper DeJean and Missouri’s Ennis Rakestraw Jr.
