Shoto Imanaga Signing "Pointing To The Giants"
11 months agoMLB's Mark Feinsand reported Monday that the signing of free-agent Japanese starting pitcher Shoto Imanaga "is all pointing to the [San Francisco] Giants." The Nippon Professional Baseball veteran's posting period expires on Thursday, and while the Red Sox, Cubs, and Angels have been mentioned as potential finalists, sources seem to suggest that the Giants have the edge. The team has signed KBO outfielder Jung Hoo Lee and traded for former Cy Young starter Robbie Ray (elbow) this offseason but have missed out on major free agents over the past several seasons. Imanaga is 64-50 with a 3.18 ERA in 165 games in Japan. While he does not carry as much clout as fellow Team Japan starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who signed with the division-rival Dodgers, Imanaga should still be a relevant fantasy contributor, and the Giants' Oracle Park would be a fine landing spot.
