BALLER MOVE: Start in 14+ Team Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: RB3 with a safe floor
ANALYSIS: RB Najee Harris and the Pittsburgh Steelers offense have struggled to get going for a large part of the 2023 season. In the team’s Week 14 loss to the New England Patriots, Harris saw a total of 15 touches which translated into just 48 total yards from scrimmage.
The former Alabama back now gets ready for a Week 15 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts that should help turn things around after his most recent showing. This Colts' run defense has allowed the third most fantasy points to opposing running backs, while also allowing the sixth-most rushing yards.
Despite some heavy involvement from fellow RB Jaylen Warren in Pittsburgh’s backfield, there should still be plenty of opportunity for both backs in this matchup. Just last week, Indianapolis allowed both Bengals RBs Joe Mixon and Chase Brown to combine for 230+ yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns.
Something else worth a look at is Harris’ red zone usage. In runs inside of the 10-yard line this season, Harris has out-carried Warren by a margin of 13 to three. A good sign that the former first-round pick can look to find pay dirt in a favorable matchup for him.
Harris’ ceiling remains low due to Pittsburgh’s lackluster offense and lack of receiving work. That being said, a matchup against one of the league’s worst run defenses with his high-end volume makes him a viable plug-and-play option in Week 15.
