Mariners Considering Cody Bellinger
1 year agoThe Seattle Mariners are considering free-agent outfielder/first baseman Cody Bellinger among their free-agent options this offseason. MLB Network's Jon Morosi believes Bellinger is going to be one of the highest-paid free-agent position players this winter outside of two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani. The Mariners cleared payroll space and a spot in their outfield when they traded Jarred Kelenic to the Atlanta Braves on Sunday night, potentially opening up a spot for Bellinger on their roster. Bellinger lives in the Phoenix area and the Mariners train there, so it could be a great fit. The 28-year-old left-handed slugger had a dynamic all-around year for the Cubs in 2023 in a huge bounce-back season after several down years to close out his tenure with the Dodgers. The Giants and Blue Jays are a couple other teams to watch in the Bellinger sweepstakes this week.
