Max Scherzer Won't Pitch Again In World Series
1 year agoThe Texas Rangers announced on Tuesday that they have removed right-hander Max Scherzer (back) from the World Series roster after he had his start cut short in Game 3 on Monday night due to a back spasm. He is being replaced on the roster by left-hander Brock Burke, who will give Texas more bullpen depth for the rest of the series. Scherzer tossed three shutout innings against Arizona on Tuesday before being removed before the start of the fourth inning. The 39-year-old future Hall of Famer suffered a shoulder strain in mid-September, so he didn't make his first playoff start this year until the ALCS against the Houston Astros. In his three postseason starts this year for the Rangers, Scherzer allowed seven earned runs on 10 hits (three homers) while walking five and striking out 13 in 14 1/3 innings.
