Diamondbacks Leaning Toward Brandon Pfaadt For Game 3
1 year agoIt sounds as though the Arizona Diamondbacks are leaning toward starting rookie right-hander Brandon Pfaadt against the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 3 of the National League Division Series on Wednesday in Arizona, but manager Torey Lovullo didn't make anything official before Game 2 on Monday. Pfaadt has a chance to give the Snakes a sweep of their division rivals in the best-of-five series after winning Games 1 and 2. The 24-year-old had an up-and-down first season in the big leagues in 19 regular season outings (18 starts) with a 5.72 ERA and 1.41 WHIP, but he does have strikeout upside when he's on (94 K's in 96 innings). Pfaadt only lasted 2 2/3 innings in his first postseason start in Game 1 of the wild-card series against the Brewers and gave up 10 runs (nine earned) in 8 2/3 frames in two losses to LA during the regular season. He won't be a popular DFS play against a Dodgers team with their backs against the wall.
