Ranger Suarez To Start Game 1 Against Atlanta
1 year agoPhiladelphia Phillies manager Rob Thomson said that left-hander Ranger Suarez will start Game 1 of the National League Division Series on Saturday in Atlanta against the division-rival Braves. Suarez will be followed by right-hander Zack Wheeler in Game 2 and righty Aaron Nola in Game 3. The 28-year-old southpaw faces an extremely difficult matchup against one of the best offenses in baseball, but he'll be on plenty of rest after not being needed in the two-game sweep over the Miami Marlins in the wild-card series. Suarez comes into the postseason after allowing 10 earned runs with four walks and 10 K's in 11 1/3 innings in his last two regular season starts. In his lone start against the Braves in 2023, Suarez was strong, giving up just one earned run while walking two and fanning seven in six innings in a no-decision on June 20.
