Yariel Rodriguez Looking For MLB Deal
1 year agoCuban right-hander Yariel Rodriguez received his release on Thursday from the Chunichi Dragons in the Nippon Professional Baseball league, according to sources. The 26-year-old is represented by Edgar Mercedes, who has previously signed impact players in the market such as Juan Miranda, Yoenis Cespedes, Yunesky Maya and Luis Robert Jr. Rodriguez was the ace for Team Cuba in this year's World Baseball Classic. His agent will apply for free agency very soon so that Rodriguez will be eligible to sign with a major-league team. According to several international scouts, he could receive a five-year deal in the range of $50-70 million. Rodriguez last pitched in Japan in 2022 and had a 1.15 ERA, 60 strikeouts and 18 walks in 54 2/3 innings pitched.
