Indianapolis Colts tight end Jelani Woods is a great athlete at the position, which naturally makes him an intriguing fantasy football sleeper. The 2022 third-round pick showed some promising signs last season and is on a team with a weak pass-catching depth chart.
However, Woods has yet to make his season debut. He's eligible to return in Week 5, and we have the latest update on whether or not that will happen.
Is Woods injured or healthy? What's his fantasy outlook this season? Let's dive in.

Jelani Woods Injury Update for Fantasy Football
Indianapolis Colts head coach Shane Steichen says that tight end Jelani Woods (hamstring) will remain on Injured Reserve this week, per Nate Atkins of The Indianapolis Star. Woods' hamstring injury cost him the entire preseason and he doesn't appear to be ready to take practice reps quite yet, either.
The 2022 third-round pick flashed at times in his rookie season, ultimately securing 25 out of 40 passes for 312 yards and three touchdowns in 15 games. However, it looks like he'll be out a little while longer.
Jelani Woods Fantasy Football Outlook
Even when he is activated from Injured Reserve, Woods belongs on fantasy waiver wires until proven otherwise. Kylen Granson has acted as Indianapolis' primary tight end with 11 catches for 88 yards and a score, but Drew Ogletree generated 48 yards while visiting the end zone in Week 4.
Given the relatively low-volume passing offense led by rookie Anthony Richardson in Indianapolis, there's not much to see here for fantasy purposes in most leagues.
In super deep leagues or tight end premium leagues, he might be worth picking up and stashing just to see what happens. The waiver wire will continue to become scarcer every week, so fantasy managers who are in a tough spot at tight end could choose to roll the dice on him.
