Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Pat Freiermuth posted at least 60 receptions in each of his first two seasons in the NFL. The Penn State product looked like he was going to be a high-floor PPR league tight end for years to come, but he and the Steelers offense have gotten out to a cold start in 2023.
To make things worse, Freiermuth is now dealing with an injury that could cost him game action moving forward. We have the latest update on the third-year pass-catcher.
Is Freiermuth injured or healthy? What's his fantasy outlook in Week 5 if he plays? Let's dive in.

Pat Freiermuth Injury Update for Fantasy Football
Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said that Freiermuth (hamstring) is "very doubtful" to play in Week 5 against the division-rival Baltimore Ravens this Sunday after he hurt his hamstring in the Week 4 loss to the Houston Texans.
We'll have a better idea of whether Freiermuth will be able to play this weekend based on his practice status this week, but fantasy managers that have been starting him through the first four weeks of the season should already be looking for a backup plan if they don't have one already.
Pat Freiermuth Fantasy Football Outlook
So far this season, Freiermuth has hauled in just eight passes for 53 yards and two touchdowns. His red zone prowess is promising, but obviously, the lack of volume has made him a shaky fantasy option.
Even if he plays in Week 5, he has a low floor against the Ravens, who have allowed the second-fewest fantasy points to tight ends thus far. Kenny Pickett (knee) is also at risk of missing the AFC North contest, so all Steelers' fantasy-relevant players are in a tough spot.
If Freiermuth is out, rookie Darnell Washington would serve as the primary tight end. However, he's not on the fantasy radar after catching just one pass for 10 yards in his first four games.
