Chicago Bears rookie running back Roschon Johnson has slowly seen his value and ranking rise through the first two weeks of the fantasy football season.
As the Bears look to figure out the structure of their backfield, Johnson has earned a significant opportunity to get involved.
Is this a sign of things to come for Roschon Johnson? Should you pick him up in fantasy leagues after his Week 2 showing?

What Did Roschon Johnson Do In Week 2?
Johnson opened the season with 55 scrimmage yards and a touchdown back in Week 1. He played a key role in the passing game, hauling in six receptions for 35 yards through the air.
The rookie's solid first week could have contributed to veteran D'Onta Foreman being inactive in Week 2. In this scenario, Johnson saw a 42 percent snap share. He operated behind Justin Fields and Khalil Herbert in the rushing attack but looked solid when given the opportunity to carry the ball. His best play of the contest was a 29-yard gain in which he broke free from the Buccaneers' defense. The 22-year-old also added two catches for 10 receiving yards versus Tampa Bay.
Were There Any Worrying Signs With Roschon Johnson In Week 2?
The glaring concern, as mentioned, is Johnson's position on the depth chart, which puts him behind Khalil Herbert. He also operates behind Justin Fields, who has 13 rushes for 62 yards and one touchdown through the first two games.
Beyond his role, the overall woes of the Bears are quite concerning. The offensive line has struggled, making it difficult for Johnson to gain yardage on runs up the middle. As a whole, Chicago has looked weak, too, scoring a modest 37 points through two weeks but mustering zero wins. If the Bears are going to continue playing from behind, it'll be hard to get running backs like Johnson involved.
Should I Pick Up Roschon Johnson Off the Waiver Wire in Fantasy Football?
Although he does have some red flags, Johnson is worth adding in leagues with 12 or more teams. The rookie has looked great in pass protection, so he should earn more snaps going forward, and has shown burst in rare occasions where he gets a block from the offensive line or can bounce outside.
The Bears run into the brick wall that is the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 3, but the backfield should get more involved as Chicago begins an easier stretch of games against the Broncos in Week 4. Johnson is a solid speculative addition who could transition from bench status to having FLEX appeal midseason.
