Davante Adams is showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon. At age 30, he became a First Team All-Pro member after tallying 1,516 yards and 14 touchdowns in his first season with the Las Vegas Raiders.
Those numbers made him one of the highly-ranked wide receivers in fantasy football. However, he had a pedestrian six catches for 66 yards in their 2023 season-opening victory over the Denver Broncos.
His fantasy owners were scared when he was out of the team’s Wednesday practice for Week 2 due to a foot injury. The latest update shows he will play against the Buffalo Bills this weekend.

Davante Adams Skipping Practice Was More of a Rest Day
No one knew the severity of Adams’ foot injury when he was a non-participant during Wednesday’s practice. However, since he was a full participant on Thursday and Friday, he is ready to make the trip to Buffalo and compete with the Bills.
Players skipping practice on Wednesdays shouldn’t be alarming, especially for veterans. Teams treat it as an additional day to rest, helping their bodies recover. Fantasy owners should press the panic button if their players miss Thursday and/or Friday practices.
While Adams had modest numbers in Week 1, the attention given to him by Denver’s defense may have affected Jakobi Meyers’ 81-yard, two-touchdown performance. However, Week 2 will be different because of their opponent and Meyers’ injury status.
Davante Adams 2023 Week 2 Fantasy Outlook
Adams will be thrown into the fire against an elite Buffalo Bills defensive secondary featuring Tre’Davious White, Jordan Poyer, Micah Hyde, and Christian Benford. While he is an All-Pro wide receiver, he hasn’t been impressive during his two previous games against the Bills.
Davante Adams faced the Bills twice during his time with the Green Bay Packers. In those games, he averaged 4.5 receptions for 43.5 yards and zero touchdowns. Those are uncharacteristic numbers for a wideout coming off three consecutive 1,000-yard seasons.
Even if the Bills are solid on defense, Jimmy Garoppolo will continue to look for Adams, mainly with Meyers out of action due to concussion protocol. With Meyers not practicing the entire week, Adams’ target share will likely increase in Week 2.
Therefore, Adams could have better numbers against Buffalo compared to his Week 1 output in Denver. With Meyers out, the Bills can concentrate their defense on Adams more and let Austin Hooper or Hunter Renfrow beat them.
Given his talent, Adams will get his catches. However, remember that the Bills surrendered only 117 passing yards to the New York Jets, the sixth-fewest in Week 1. Therefore, putting Adams as a high-end WR2 for Week 2 is best.
