Arizona Cardinals running back James Conner is dealing with a minor calf issue. He was limited in practice on both Wednesday and Thursday.
Heading into the season, Conner had an ADP of #63 and was expected to have a big season due to Kyler Murray's injury. In Week 1, the Cardinals played the Washington Commanders, and Conner didn't have a big game in his team's 20-16 loss.
In Week 1, the 28-year-old running back had 62 yards on 14 carries. He averaged 4.4 yards per carry, with his longest rush being 12 yards. Let's discuss whether Connor will play in Week 2 and, if he does, how things look for him.

Wil James Conner Play In Week 2?
Although James Conner was limited in practice this week, it's expected that he will play in Week 2 against the New York Giants. The Cardinals are in a very tough spot with their franchise quarterback expected to miss the majority of the season, resulting in more pressure on Conner to succeed.
Joshua Dobbs will continue to be the quarterback for the Cardinals, and he will rely on his running back to help him out. The Cardinals also have a new head coach Jonathan Gannon, who will take time to find his feet with the team.
Last year, Conner had 183 carries for 782 yards and scored seven rushing touchdowns in 13 games. Behind Conner, in the Cardinals running back depth chart are Keontay Ingram and rookie Emari Demarcado, who don't have much experience.
James Conner Fantasy Outlook For Week 2
As mentioned earlier, the Cardinals will face the Giants in Week 2. The NFC East team is coming off a brutal 40-0 loss to the Dallas Cowboys and will be determined to win this crucial game for them.
They have a decent defense and will make life tough for the Cardinals. So far in his career, James Conner has played the Giants only once, and in 2020, he had six carries for just nine yards against them.
This can be a tough spot for the Cardinals, but Connor's usage will be high in this game. The Giants gave up 122 rushing yards in their loss to the Cowboys, and last year, they ranked 24th in the league when it came to rushing yards allowed. They gave up 146.3 rushing yards per game last year, and the Cardinals are expected to run the ball much more in Week 2.
