The Pittsburgh Steelers drafted wide receiver Diontae Johnson in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft. Since then, he has become an integral part of their offense and has shown improvement every year.
However, last season didn't go well for Johnson, but it was acceptable due to the uncertainty around the Steelers quarterback position. With Kenny Pickett entering his second season in the NFL, it was expected that Johnson could have the best season of his career yet.
Unfortunately, the start of the season didn't go according to plan. The Steelers lost 30-7 against the San Francisco 49ers, and Johnson left the game due to a hamstring injury. In this article, we will discuss how serious his injury is and his status for Week 2.

How Serious Is Diontae Johnson's Injury?
According to the most recent reports, the Steelers have not issued a statement regarding the severity of Diontae Johnson's injury. There is a strong possibility that he will not play against the Cleveland Browns in Week 2.
If scans reveal additional damage to his leg, the 27-year-old wideout could miss several weeks. The Steelers' next two games are against the Browns and the Las Vegas Raiders, and to play it safe, they may not play Johnson.
Johnson was targeted six times prior to leaving the game, but he only managed three receptions for 48 yards. In 17 games last season, he caught 86 passes for 882 yards, averaging 10.3 yards per reception and 51.9 yards per game. Given that he has not missed many games due to injury throughout his career, he could make an early return.
Kenny Pickett's Performance Resulted In Low Output From Diontae Johnson
Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett struggled massively in Week 1 against the 49ers defense. As a result, George Pickens and Diontae Johnson didn't have a good game, leaving many fantasy football players upset.
Going against the Browns in Week 2 won't be easy either, and another subpar performance from Pickett should be expected. With Johnson unlikely to play in the upcoming game, Pickens has a chance to have a big game, but it all depends on the quarterback.
In Week 1, Pickett completed 31 of his 46 passes for 232 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. He did spread the ball around, but the 49ers' defense was too much for him to overcome.
