Jahmyr Gibbs Thinks 1,000 Rushing Yards, 500 Receiving Yards Is Possible
1 year agoDetroit Lions rookie first-round running back Jahmyr Gibbs is setting high goals for himself in his first NFL season after being taken with the 12th overall pick in this year's draft. Over three seasons at Georgia, he had 2,132 rushing yards and 1,217 receiving yards while scoring 23 total touchdowns. Gibbs averaged 7.0 yards per touch in 2022 while rushing for 926 yards and going for 441 receiving yards on 44 catches. The 21-year-old thinks he can go for 1,000 rushing yards and 500 receiving yards in his rookie season. Only 49ers RB Christian McCaffrey did that last year. However, Lions head coach Dan Campbell said he might ease Gibbs into action in Week 1 on Thursday night against the Kansas City Chiefs. Gibbs will be sharing work with David Montgomery in 2023, but he still has RB2 upside in fantasy in his first year.
