The 2023 regular season season is almost here. That means fantasy players have less than three days to complete all of their fantasy football drafts.
One of the toughest decisions fantasy players have to make every year is deciding between two similar options. Since fantasy players can’t possibly draft both guys, they must make the hard decision on which player to pick.
Today, we look at whether fantasy players should draft Tyler Higbee or Dalton Schultz.

Should I Draft Tyler Higbee?
According to the RotoBaller ADP, Higbee is a 10th-round pick in 12-team leagues and the 13th tight end off the board. Last season, the veteran tight end was the TE8, averaging 6.8 half-point PPR fantasy points per game. He ended the year with 72 receptions on 108 targets for 620 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
The veteran tight end finished second on the team in receptions and receiving yards, only behind Cooper Kupp. He did lead the Los Angeles Rams in targets last season.
However, Higbee didn’t step up with Kupp out of the lineup. The veteran tight end was the TE10, averaging 7.9 fantasy points per game in the seven contests without the superstar wide receiver last year. Furthermore, he had only two games with over 6.5 fantasy points during that span.
Should I Draft Dalton Schultz?
According to the RotoBaller ADP, Schultz is a 10th-round pick in 12-team leagues and the 11th tight end off the board. Last season, the veteran tight end was the TE9, averaging 7.6 half-point PPR fantasy points per game. He ended the year with 57 receptions on 89 targets for 577 receiving yards and five touchdowns with the Dallas Cowboys.
The veteran tight end signed a one-year contract with the Houston Texans this offseason. After the team traded away Brandin Cooks, some believe Schultz could lead the team in targets this year.
While the former Stanford tight end saw his production decline last season, the veteran dealt with injuries. Yet, Schultz had his second consecutive top-10 finish in 2022.
Who Should I Draft?
Both tight ends will be part of limited pass attacks this season. However, Schultz has more upside. The Texans lack a proven No. 1 caliber wide receiver on the roster. Meanwhile, the Rams have Kupp. While the veteran wide receiver is dealing with a hamstring injury, the team has high expectations for the rest of their wide receiver core.
However, fantasy players should target Juwan Johnson over both tight ends at a later ADP. He is prime for a breakout season after having the third-most receiving touchdowns among tight ends last year (seven).
