Jake DeBrusk Hopes To Stay In Boston
1 year agoBoston Bruins left wing Jake DeBrusk wants to stay in Beantown and hopes to agree to an extension with the club. The 26-year-old is entering the final season of his current contract. "I'm hoping to stay. It's the only team that I know and the team that I grew up with," DeBrusk told NHL.com this week. "Hopefully it goes in that direction, and we'll see how it goes. That's why I have an agent, and I told him I wanted to stay out of this one and in time, it'll be nice when it all gets done." DeBrusk has made a big U-turn regarding his future, as he asked for a trade as recently as the 2021-22 campaign. However, after rescinding the trade request, DeBrusk put together his strongest season yet, registering 27 goals and 50 points in 64 games last term. He aims to do even better in 2023-24. "If I stay healthy, I think I can score 30 this season," DeBrusk said. "I've knocked on the door twice with 27, and I have 25 in there as well. I think if I stay healthy, that's obviously the goal, to finally get to that 30 mark."
