George Kirby To Start On Sunday
1 year agoSeattle Mariners right-hander George Kirby (illness) will make his next start on Sunday in New York against the Mets. Kirby was scratched from his start on Tuesday against the Oakland Athletics due to an illness, but he's apparently feeling better now and will close out the weekend series against the Mets. Right-handers Logan Gilbert and Luis Castillo will get the ball for the first two games of the series. Kirby's matchup on Sunday won't be as good as the one he had earlier this week against the A's, but he's still worth starting against the disappointing Mets. The 25-year-old first-time All-Star has gone 10-8 with a 3.28 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, a league-low 0.8 BB/9 and 142 strikeouts in 156 1/3 innings over his 25 starts.
