Brandon Belt Unavailable Due To Back Spasms
1 year agoToronto Blue Jays manager John Schneider said that first baseman/designated hitter Brandon Belt (back) "wasn't available" for Tuesday's game against the Washington Nationals after dealing with lower-back spasms. Belt wasn't going to start against a left-handed pitcher on Tuesday anyway, but he wasn't available at all off the bench either due to the injury. There's a pretty good chance he won't be available to play on Wednesday as well, but fantasy managers will want to check back later. In his first year in Toronto in 2023, the 35-year-old veteran left-handed hitter has mostly been a part-time bat for the Jays against right-handed pitching. Belt has been decent with a .250/.369/.465 slash line with an .834 OPS, 15 home runs, 37 RBI and 47 runs scored in his 374 plate appearances. Given his injury history, don't be surprised if he needs a stint on the injured list.
