1 year agoSt. Louis Cardinals outfielder Lars Nootbaar (groin), who has been out since Aug. 16 after fouling a ball off his groin, has progressed to the point that he will work out with the Cardinals for a second straight day on Tuesday before beginning a minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Memphis on Wednesday. Barring a setback in minor-league action, Nootbaar could return from the 10-day injured list by Friday. Thumb, back and groin injuries have limited him to 90 games in 2023, and he's hit .283 with 12 home runs, 39 RBI and an .835 OPS. In the second half, Nootbaar has been great, hitting .330 with seven long balls, 14 RBI and a 1.027 OPS in 30 games, so fantasy managers in deeper leagues will be hoping he can pick up where he left off if he returns this weekend.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
