1 year agoThe Toronto Blue Jays placed third baseman Matt Chapman (finger) on the 10-day injured list on Monday with a right middle-finger sprain and recalled infielder Ernie Clement from the minors in a corresponding move. Chapman has been dealing with the issue for two weeks after initially hurting it in a weight-room accident. Clement is starting at shortstop and batting eight on Monday against Washington Nationals right-hander Josiah Gray with Bo Bichette (quadriceps) also hurt. Davis Schneider is manning the hot corner and batting leadoff. In addition to Schneider, Santiago Espinal and Cavan Biggio are options at third base while Chapman is on the shelf. Chapman has struggled in August, batting .197 (15-for-76) with a homer, three doubles, six RBI, 29 K's and four runs scored in 21 games (20 starts).--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
