Commanders Remain High On Sam Howell
1 year agoWashington Commanders head coach Ron Rivera said that quarterback Sam Howell has a chance to be a "really good" quarterback for the team. Since Kirk Cousins last played for the team in 2017, the franchise has started 12 different QBs due to injuries and ineptitude. In Rivera's three seasons in D.C., the team has started eight QBs. "We feel pretty comfortable, pretty good about the guy this year. We feel very strongly -- I know I do -- going into this season that we've got a guy," Rivera said of Howell. The 22-year-old looked good in the preseason finale against Baltimore, going 19-for-25 for 188 yards and two touchdowns on Monday. Howell will have some pretty good playmakers to work with in an offense now run by Eric Bieniemy, giving him some sleeper upside as a QB2 in superflex leagues in 2023.
