Andrew McCutchen Starting On The Bench
1 year agoPittsburgh Pirates outfielder Andrew McCutchen will take the day off on Thursday against the visiting Chicago Cubs. Bryan Reynolds will serve as the designated hitter and will bat second, with Joshua Palacios, Ji Hwan Bae and Connor Joe starting for Pittsburgh across the outfield. The 36-year-old McCutchen has served as the team's primary designated hitter for most of the year, and he's having a fine season in his return to the team in which he spent the first nine years of his career. In the month of August, McCutchen is hitting .262 (17-for-65) with two home runs, five doubles, 10 RBI and seven runs scored in 17 starts. He should be back in Friday's lineup in the second game of the series against Chicago.
