Robert Suarez Ejected For Illegal Substance Wednesday
1 year agoSan Diego Padres relief pitcher Robert Suarez was ejected from Wednesday's game against the Miami Marlins after crew chief Todd Tichenor said Suarez's left wrist area was "too sticky, very sticky, and he was ejected." Suarez argued that he used the regular amount of sunscreen he uses during day games, adding, "I definitely don't use any illegal substances." The 32-year-old will likely appeal a 10-game suspension from Major League Baseball, but fantasy managers in holds leagues should expect the right-hander to miss some time soon after Wednesday's incident. Suarez didn't make his 2023 debut until July 21 due to injury, and he's sporting a 4.73 ERA (4.17 FIP), 0.90 WHIP, five walks and eight strikeouts in 13 1/3 innings as the team's primary eighth-inning guy as the bridge to closer Josh Hader.
