C.J. Stroud To Start Second Preseason Contest
1 year agoHouston Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans said that rookie first-round quarterback C.J. Stroud will get another start in the second preseason game against the Miami Dolphins on Saturday. Although the Texans have yet to officially announce Stroud as their starter under center over Davis Mills for the start of the regular season, this is another step toward the second overall pick being the starter for Week 1. The 21-year-old has been seeing the first-team repetitions in training camp practices for weeks now, too, so it's probably a foregone conclusion that Stroud will start right out of the gates in his first NFL season. Stroud will be a popular selection early in rookie-only dynasty/keeper drafts, but at best, he'll be a low-end QB2 in single-year leagues in 2023.
