Anthony Richardson Wins Starting QB Job
1 year agoIndianapolis Colts head coach Shane Steichen announced on Tuesday that rookie first-round quarterback Anthony Richardson has won the starting QB job over veteran Gardner Minshew. The 21-year-old was taken fourth overall by the Colts in this year's draft, so it's not a total surprise that he'll begin as the starter under center right away in Week 1. Richardson's physical skills are off the page, especially as a rusher, but it's probably going to take some time for him to develop as a passer at the next level. He'll surely have his ups and downs in Year 1, but the athleticism alone and rushing ability will make him a QB2 with upside in fantasy, even in single-year leagues in 2023. Richardson will get another chance to work on things in the second preseason game this Saturday against the Chicago Bears.
