Carson Williams Posts Five-Hit Game
1 year agoTampa Bay Rays shortstop prospect Carson Williams collected a career-high five hits on Sunday. The 21-year-old now boasts a .262/.359/.506 slash line with 18 home runs and 14 stolen bases through 88 games with High-A Bowling Green this season. His contact rate leaves something to be desired, but Williams' 60-grade power is exceptional for the shortstop position, in addition to standout defensive prowess. Williams is the second-ranked prospect in the Rays' farm system and the No. 19 prospect in baseball, per MLB Pipeline. He's likely a year or two away from a major-league debut, but Williams could expedite the journey if he can reduce his 30.9% strikeout rate.
