Dameon Pierce Won't Play Thursday Night
1 year agoHouston Texans running back Dameon Pierce will not play in the preseason opener against the New England Patriots on Thursday night. It's not a surprise that the Texans will keep their top running back out of the first preseason game. Pierce's next chance to play in the preseason will come on Aug. 19 against the Miami Dolphins. The 23-year-old was electric in 13 games in his rookie season in 2022 before he suffered a season-ending ankle injury. In those 13 games, he carried the ball 220 times for 939 yards (4.3 yards per carry) and four touchdowns, adding 30 receptions for 165 yards and another score. Pierce should once again see a heavy workload in 2023, but in an offense led by a rookie quarterback, the overall upside could be limited. Target Pierce as a low-end RB2 in fantasy drafts.
