1 year agoLos Angeles Dodgers designated hitter J.D. Martinez (hamstring) is heading back to Los Angeles for an MRI exam, according to manager Dave Roberts. However, it sounds as though Martinez won't need a trip to the injured list. Roberts said the hope is that an injection knocks it out from being an issue for the rest of the season for Martinez. The 35-year-old veteran slugger was scratched from Tuesday's lineup against the Arizona Diamondbacks and won't play in the series finale on Wednesday. It remains to be seen if he'll be available for the start of a four-game series in LA on Thursday against the Colorado Rockies. Martinez has been a solid source of power (25 home runs) and run production (76 RBI) in the heart of one of the best lineups in baseball in 2023.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
