Ke'Shawn Vaughn 2023 NFL Player Outlook: Favorite To Be Tampa Bay's RB2 Behind White
1 year agoTampa Bay Buccaneers running back Ke'Shawn Vaughn is heading into his fourth year with the organization, and the Vanderbilt product may be in line for some added work after a disappointing 2022 campaign. With veteran Leonard Fournette and rookie Rachaad White dominating snaps last season (over 99% combined), Vaughn rarely saw the field, which led to career lows in carries (17), rushing yards (53), and YPC (3.1). With Fournette now gone and vacating over half of the total RB snaps and touches, Vaughn should see an increased role in this newly orchestrated Bucs offense, but one with questionable fantasy relevance. The RB room in Tampa also features Chase Edmonds, who was just acquired through a veteran minimum after flaming out as a big free agent acquisition by Miami during the 2022 offseason. Edmonds is at his best as a receiving threat out of the backfield, logging 144 catches since 2018, a top-25 mark in the NFL during that time. With only 12 total catches in his career, Vaughn will be utilized in a different role, but both are currently competing for the top backup spot in training camp. Even if the 26-year-old can edge out Edmonds for the RB2 spot in Tampa, with an FFPC ADP of 348, he's only worth a roster spot in very deep leagues. White is projected to handle over 70% of the work, which leaves non-fantasy relevant scraps for Vaughn and Edmonds to fight over.
