J.D. Martinez Available To Pinch Hit Friday
1 year agoLos Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that designated hitter J.D. Martinez (hamstring) will be available to pinch hit on Friday in the series opener against the division-rival San Diego Padres. Martinez should be back in Saturday's lineup for the Dodgers. Martinez took batting practice on Thursday after sitting out the entire series this week against the Oakland Athletics. It doesn't sound like a serious issue for the 35-year-old slugger, and the Dodgers are giving him ample time before he returns. Fantasy managers will want to put Martinez back in their lineups if he's back in there on Saturday. In his first year in LA, the veteran has been an All-Star, slashing .260/.310/.562 with an .872 OPS, 25 homers, 75 RBI and 48 runs scored in 331 at-bats. David Peralta is the DH on Friday and is hitting cleanup against Padres right-hander Yu Darvish.
