Logan O'Hoppe To Start Rehab Assignment Next Week
1 year agoLos Angeles Angels rookie catcher Logan O'Hoppe (shoulder) will start a minor-league rehab assignment next week, but he will likely need the full 20 days before he returns to the big leagues, according to manager Phil Nevin. O'Hoppe, the team's top prospect per MLB Pipeline, is attempting to return after having surgery in April to fix a torn labrum in his left, non-throwing shoulder. If he can avoid any setbacks on his rehab assignment, the Halos should get him back near the end of August. Until then, Matt Thais and Chad Wallach will split the catching duties in Anaheim. O'Hoppe had earned regular playing time behind the dish for the Angels before his injury, batting .283 (15-for-53) with four home runs and 13 RBI in 16 games to begin the 2023 campaign.
