George Springer Dropped To Fifth In Lineup
1 year agoToronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer is starting in right field on Friday against Los Angeles Angels right-hander Lucas Giolito, but he's been dropped to fifth in the batting order. Meanwhile, second baseman Whit Merrifield is taking over the leadoff spot for the Jays. Springer has hit leadoff for Toronto this entire season, but he has just one hit in his last 26 at-bats and is really struggling at the dish. The recent cold stretch has dropped the 33-year-old's slash line to .257/.326/.397 on the year. Springer has also added 13 homers, 41 RBI, 13 stolen bases and 56 runs scored in 393 at-bats. Fantasy managers in all formats may want to avoid him until he heats up offensively for Toronto.
