Rangers Plan To Start Nathan Eovaldi On Sunday
1 year agoThe plan is for Texas Rangers right-hander Nathan Eovaldi to return to the rotation and start on Sunday in the series finale against the San Diego Padres, according to manager Bruce Bochy. Eovaldi recently experienced a drop in velocity, and the Rangers decided to skip his turn in the rotation earlier this week as a result. The 33-year-old veteran hurler earned his second career All-Star nod in 2023 and has been excellent for the Rangers this year with an 11-3 record, league-best 2.69 ERA (3.25 FIP), 1.01 WHIP, 34 walks and 111 strikeouts in 123 2/3 innings over his 19 starts. Eovaldi will be well-rested this weekend and will be going up against a pretty lackluster Padres offense that ranks 14 out of 15 teams in the National League in batting average.
