Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor is coming off a tough season where he missed significant time due to injuries. To make things worse, Taylor was placed on the PUP list to start this year's training camp.
Due to the running back getting placed on the PUP list, many fantasy managers got worried about Taylor's availability for training camp and also for Week 1. The Colts are set to face the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 1, and in this article, we will discuss whether the Colts star will be able to play in it.
Will Jonathan Taylor Play In Week 1?
As per various reports, Jonathan Taylor getting placed on the PUP list is not very serious and is likely due to his contract situation with the franchise. Due to it, he will be available to play in Week 1 against the Jaguars and will be ready to make an impact with rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson.
The Colts have a new head coach in the form of Shane Steichen, who had a lot of success as the Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator last season. Taylor has shown in the past that he can be the best running back in the game, and with Steichen, he can relish that form once again if he stays healthy.
Last season, the 24-year-old running back played only nine games, in which he had 192 carries for 861 yards and scored just four touchdowns. He had ankle surgery in December and has been recovering since then. After letting down many fantasy managers last season, Taylor will hope to shine this upcoming season.
Jonathan Taylor Is Unhappy With His Contract Situation
Similar to other running backs in the league, Jonathan Taylor is unhappy with his situation. He was the 41st overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft and is projected to earn around $4.3 million this upcoming season.
He will be an unrestricted free agent next season, which is why Taylor is looking to secure a new deal soon to avoid any controversy that will be caused by the franchise tag.
