1 year agoPhiladelphia Phillies pitching prospect Andrew Painter (elbow) will have Tommy John surgery on Tuesday in Los Angeles on his right elbow. Doctors recommended that Painter have Tommy John surgery last week, and that surgery will take place on Tuesday. It's a tough break for the 20-year-old right-hander, who is ranked as the team's top overall prospect, per MLB Pipeline. Painter is still worth stashing because of his immense upside in deep dynasty/keeper leagues, but fantasy managers that were holding onto him in deep redraft leagues in 2023 can officially cut bait. There's a chance that Painter won't even pitch at all next season, and if he does, it most likely won't be in the major leagues.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
