1 year agoNew York Mets prospect Ronny Mauricio slugged his 16th home run of the season on Saturday, claiming a walk-off victory for Triple-A Syracuse. The heralded shortstop is now slashing .295/.340/.511 through 85 games this season. Mauricio's exceptional power output is nothing new, featuring 60-grade power and coming off a 26-home run 2022 campaign. He's also found new life this season with a more contact-heavy approach, cutting his strikeout rate to just 17%. The 22-year-old is the Mets' second-ranked prospect and the No. 57 prospect in baseball, per MLB Pipeline. Mauricio remains on the cusp of a promotion to the majors, though it may require some positional flexibility with Francisco Lindor occupying shortstop for the Mets.
