William Byron Qualifies 7th Despite Power Steering Issue
1 year agoKeep an eye on William Byron and his #24 Chevrolet between now and the start of the Crayon 301 at New Hampshire on Sunday (or Monday, depending on the weather). Byron said the car felt very weird during practice and qualifying on Saturday and thought he might be experiencing power steering issues. If the team decides to switch out the power steering before the race, Byron will be forced to start from the rear and forefit his 7th-place starting position. There has been no word yet on whether this will happen, though. Taking that out of consideration, Byron looked like a potential top 10 car on Saturday at New Hampshire even though he has never finished better than 11th at this track in five career Cup Series starts.
