1 year agoToronto Blue Jays left-handed pitching prospect Brandon Barriera (elbow) continues to build his arm up and is sitting at 92-94 mph during live batting practice sessions. The first-round pick from a year ago could be on pace to return from his left-elbow injury in a couple of weeks. The 19-year-old southpaw will be returning to Single-A Dunedin when he's ready after going 0-2 with nine earned runs allowed while walking six and striking out 18 in 13 1/3 innings over four starts before his injury. Barriera still has plenty of seasoning in the minor leagues to do over the next couple of years, but he has the upside of a future big-league starter with a high-90s heater, a sweeping slider and a changeup.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
