1 year agoToronto Blue Jays infield prospect Orelvis Martinez, the team's No. 4 prospect per MLB Pipeline, is expected to be promoted from Double-A New Hampshire to Triple-A Buffalo in the coming days. After making pitch recognition and swing decisions a focal point after he hit just .203 with 30 home runs a year ago at New Hampshire, Martinez is currently slashing .230/.344/.494 with an .838 OPS, 17 home runs, nine doubles, a triple, 46 RBI and 33 runs scored in 69 games in 2023. He's hit .301 over his last 47 games. The 21-year-old's strikeout percentage is down from 28.5% to 19.8%, while his walk rate has gone from 8.1% to 14.2%. With Matt Chapman due to be a free agent after this year, Martinez could be the immediate replacement at third base for Toronto in 2024.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
