Cade Horton Looking Dominant In Minors
1 year agoChicago Cubs right-handed pitching prospect Cade Horton, who is listed as the team's No. 2 prospect per MLB Pipeline, has gone 3-2 with a 3.89 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, 12 walks and 57 strikeouts in 39 1/3 innings over nine starts at High-A South Bend. He started the year at Single-A Myrtle Beach, where he posted a nice 1.26 ERA, 0.84 WHIP, four walks and 21 strikeouts in 14 1/3 innings over just four starts. The 21-year-old former Oklahoma star was taken seventh overall in last year's draft and figures to be promoted to Double-A sooner than later. If Horton continues to look dominant on the farm as he reaches the upper levels, he could be ready for a promotion to the big leagues at some point in 2024.
