Fred Warner 2023 NFL Player: Needs To Make More Impact Plays
1 year agoSan Francisco 49ers linebacker Fred Warner is one of the best off-ball linebackers in the game, but he just doesn't make the kind of impact plays that would increase his value in IDP fantasy football. He plays the run and the pass well. In the run game, he stopped backs for little or no gain 60 times last season, the sixth-most. In coverage, he only allowed completions on 65.5% of the passes he was targeted, allowing two touchdowns and making one interception. He has made between 125 and 137 combined tackles in each of his past three seasons. He is extremely valuable for the 49ers, and he is a great leader in the center of San Fran's front seven. But he doesn't make enough impact plays to be a top-12 fantasy LB. Last season, he finished as the LB20 in RotoBaller IDP Scoring. His 2.0 sacks were the second most he has made in a season in his career. He recovered zero fumbles, which was down from three in 2021, and he only forced a single fumble for the third straight season. Warner is a LB2 in balanced-scoring leagues and a fringe LB1 in tackle-heavy leagues.
