Ezequiel Tovar Hitting Leadoff Against Giants
1 year agoColorado Rockies shortstop Ezequiel Tovar is starting at shortstop and batting in the leadoff spot on Friday against the San Francisco Giants and right-hander Ross Stripling. Tovar continues to rise up the Rockies' lineup while going 22-for-67 (.328) with three home runs, two doubles, a triple, 14 RBI, a stolen base and 11 runs scored in his last 17 games since June 13. The 21-year-old is seeing regular time at the 6 as Colorado's regular shortstop and is currently hitting .266/.303/.430 with eight home runs, 20 doubles, two triples, 41 RBI, four stolen bases and 41 runs scored in 310 plate appearances over 81 games. Tovar made his major-league debut in 2022, but he played in only nine games.
