J.T. Realmuto Sitting Out Against Rays
1 year agoPhiladelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto will take the day off on Thursday against the Tampa Bay Rays. In his place, Garrett Stubbs will do the catching and will bat in the nine-hole against Rays right-hander Shawn Armstrong. It's a normal day of rest for Realmuto, who has started each of the team's last seven games. He did have three hits in Wednesday's 8-4 win, but Realmuto is hitting just .171 (7-for-41) with a homer, five RBI, two doubles and 12 strikeouts in his last 11 games played. The three-time All-Star is hitting just .248 (68-for-274) on the year, which is well below his .273 career average, but he's still contributed nine home runs, 20 RBI, a league-high five triples, 33 RBI and 10 stolen bases in 76 games. Realmuto remains a must-start at the catcher position when he's in the lineup.
